Bio

I picked up my first camera to document my professional life as a theatrical lighting designer. Very quicky the potential of the camera to create and explore the very things that drew me to the theatre became glaringly apparent. Lighting, color, contrast, composition, and collaboration are foundational to both artforms though presented differently by each. However, both are ways to tell stories, and this is the goal in all my photography.

I currently focus on film photography, as it forces me to slow down and fit the camera to the project. I do most of my shooting with a professional Nikon F4, Nikon FE, Yashica D medium format camera, Crown Graphic 4x5 press camera, and a Polaroid 350 Land camera. I am based in Chicago, IL.

My theatrical design portfolio can be seen here.
